What is a Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner?

A Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner is a licensed and nationally certified practitioner who works closely with our physicians to provide quality medical care to patients.

Under the supervision and responsibility of a physician, the Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner enhances patient care by:

  • Obtaining patients’ medical histories and performing physical examinations;
  • Ordering and/or performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including prescription writing privileges;
  • Formulating a working diagnosis;
  • Developing and implementing a treatment plan;
  • Monitoring the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions;
  • Assisting in surgery;
  • Offering counseling and education to meet patient needs
